If already certified, active certification must be maintained: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Sonography-RT(S) or Vascular Sonography-RT(VS) certification and registration via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)[AB1.1]. For technologists who have been performing ultrasound prior to and continuously since October 1996 AND have been evaluated by a responsible physician to assure competence, certification is not required.
