Job Summary: The Soil Counter/Sorter handles, counts, sorts and records incoming soiled textiles from the customer.

Classification: Non-ExemptJob Summary: The Soil Counter/Sorter handles, counts, sorts and records incoming soiled textiles from the customer. Identifies damaged or abused textiles. Prepares and transfers textiles to other departments. Performs other tasks as needed.Essential Functions: -  Open bag of soiled textiles, then sort them by type, size and color. -  Count textiles manually or electronically, and transfer them into sorting systems. -  Identify damaged or abused textiles and record into sorting systems. -  Meet efficiency and safety standards for the position. -  Follow instructions as directed by supervision.Additional Functions: -  Work in other production positions as needed.Qualifications: -  Recognize colors and sizes, count accurately. -  Comprehend and follow direction.Typical Physical Activity: -  Physical Demands consist of standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting up to 50 lbs. and stooping. -  Physical Requirements consist of being able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.Typical Environmental Conditions: -  Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint and dust. The Sorter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting materials on the conveyor line by performing the established duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.<ul><li>Heavy manual labor, working as part of a crew in the collection and disposal of garbage, refuse recyclable material, yard trash and other waste materials</li><li>Use pitchforks, shovels and similar hand tools to perform waste, recyclable, and yard trash pickup at garbage disposal areas of commercial, residential, and other designated locations</li><li>Assist truck driver in fueling and checking all fluid levels of assigned truck, including spares</li><li>Clean out the trucks, including cab interior on a daily basis upon the completion of route</li><li>Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in container according to type, size, condition, coloring or paper grade</li><li>Pull contaminants out of paper or off of floor</li><li>Stack boxes and skids. Dump boxes and totes of material</li><li>Feed material, such as wastepaper onto conveyor</li><li>Clean up conveyor and surrounding sorting line.
