Classification: Non-ExemptJob Summary: The Soil Counter/Sorter handles, counts, sorts and records incoming soiled textiles from the customer. Identifies damaged or abused textiles. Prepares and transfers textiles to other departments. Performs other tasks as needed.Essential Functions: -  Open bag of soiled textiles, then sort them by type, size and color. -  Count textiles manually or electronically, and transfer them into sorting systems. -  Identify damaged or abused textiles and record into sorting systems. -  Meet efficiency and safety standards for the position. -  Follow instructions as directed by supervision.Additional Functions: -  Work in other production positions as needed.Qualifications: -  Recognize colors and sizes, count accurately. -  Comprehend and follow direction.Typical Physical Activity: -  Physical Demands consist of standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, grasping, lifting up to 50 lbs. and stooping. -  Physical Requirements consist of being able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.Typical Environmental Conditions: -  Production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which includes variations in temperature, odors, humidity, lint and dust. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Sorter/Processor to perform a variety of functions in order to assist in the operation of the sorting room or production area of a Production Store.

Overview:
The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Sorter/Processor to perform a variety of functions in order to assist in the operation of the sorting room or production area of a Production Store.  

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Assist as required with sorting room operation.</li></ul> <ul><li>Cross train in all sorting room functions under the guidance of the Sorting Room Supervisor.</li></ul> <ul><li>Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of sorting room area.</li></ul> <ul><li>Maintain a clean and clutter free work area.</li></ul> <ul><li>Responsible for baling as needed.</li></ul> <ul><li>This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor).</li></ul> <ul><li>Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.</li></ul> Sorter <ul><li>Process and sort donations by inspecting and separating saleable from unsaleable items.</li></ul> <ul><li>Deliver a minimum of 300 store quality garments per hour.</li></ul> <ul><li>Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric, and shoes.</li></ul> Hanger/Tagger <ul><li>Process, hang, and tag all sorted merchandise.</li></ul> <ul><li>Deliver a minimum of 225 hung garments per hour.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ensure clothes are hung according to policy and on proper hanger.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ensure that tag is properly placed on garment according to Salvation Army policy</li></ul> Pricer <ul><li>Process and price all sorted merchandise.</li></ul> <ul><li>Deliver a minimum of 225 priced garments per hour.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ensure that quality, name brand, condition, etc., are considered to determine price of garment.</li></ul>  Bric a Brac <ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li></ul> <ul><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul> Shoes/Accessories <ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li></ul> <ul><li>Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li></ul> <ul><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul> Domestics <ul><li>Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required</li></ul> <ul><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li></ul> <ul><li>Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li></ul> <ul><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul> Books/Records/Toys <ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item in accordance with established policies.</li></ul> <ul><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li></ul> <ul><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul> Furniture/Electrical <ul><li>Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.</li></ul> <ul><li>Ticket all electrical merchandise using “sold as is” tickets and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li></ul> <ul><li>Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.</li></ul> <ul><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li></ul> <ul><li>Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.</li></ul> Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Qualifications:
 <ul><li>Processing experience preferred.</li></ul><ul><li>Have a working knowledge of clothing quality and price.</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to stand for long periods.</li></ul><ul><li>Can lift 50 pounds.</li></ul>
