Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction special education certification in the elementary school setting;
Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with students with autism or other neurodevelopmental disabilities;
High levels of patience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations;
Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System);
Ability to collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members in order to help students meet individual goals;
Passion for teaching students with neurodiverse learning needs;
Must be willing to team teach and/or serve as a resource to general education teachers;
Training and/or experience in teaching social communication and expected behaviors;
Must have a desire to work in a collaborative, team approach in supporting students;
Willingness to incorporate interventions in classroom activities;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Strong planning skills;
Experience with developing and writing IEP''s;
A desire to promote family involvement in school and community;
