Attend all educational meetings, treatment team meetings, trainings, and other program activities as determined by the Program Director and Education Coordinator to actively participate in the ongoing treatment planning/discharge planning process. Under the general direction of the Program Director and Education Coordinator, the Special Education Teacher will plan, prepare, and implement the assigned curriculum and manage the implementation of the Behavioral Management System.

<h2>Job Summary:</h2><div class="jobs-JobDescription">Under the general direction of the Program Director and Education Coordinator, the Special Education Teacher will plan, prepare, and implement the assigned curriculum and manage the implementation of the Behavioral Management System.<h2>Job Duties:</h2><ul><li>Provide direct supervision of the students at all times.</li><li>Enforce all school rules outlined in the program's handbook and deal effectively with behavioral problems experienced by students during academic instruction, breaks, breakfasts/lunches, and outings. This may include prompting/redirection, verbal de-escalation, safe physical management, etc.</li><li>Implement the Behavior Management System.</li><li>Plan, prepare, and present assigned curriculum in conjunction with weekly, written lesson plans.</li><li>Track students' educational progress - issue grades, midterm progress reports, report cards, and IEP progress reports.</li><li>Complete or assist in the completion of IEPs.</li><li>Communicate with the parent(s)/guardian(s), home school districts, and any other involved agency personnel to ensure that educational services are coordinated.</li><li>Attend all educational meetings, treatment team meetings, trainings, and other program activities as determined by the Program Director and Education Coordinator to actively participate in the ongoing treatment planning/discharge planning process.</li><li>Complete all required reports, progress notes, and other correspondence as required by the Program Director.</li><li>These job duties and responsibilities should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position. Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:<ul><li>Identify the educational needs of students then develop formal educational plan or program to meet those needs.</li><li>Create lesson plans to teach a subject(s) and teach students how to study or communicate with others.</li><li>Observe student to evaluate their educational abilities, strengths and weaknesses, working with them to improve their abilities and work on their weaknesses.</li><li>Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups or one-on-one.</li><li>Communicate with family members, counselors, administrators and other teachers on progress.</li><li>Work with students individually to help overcome specific learning challenges, prepare students for standardized tests, as required by state.</li><li>Document educational plans, goals and progress, as required by the facility and the state where the facility is located.</li><li>Supervise classroom and maintain a positive environment for learning.</li><li>Develop and enforce classroom rules and administrative policies.</li><li>Supervise students outside of the classroom setting, such as at lunch time or during detention.</li><li>Adhere to treatment plans and participate in treatment team meetings as requested.</li><li>Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.  When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints.  Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.</li></ul>OTHER FUNCTIONS: <ul><li>Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
