Hunt Valley Environmental, LLC (HVE) is a small environmental engineering firm located in Westmoreland County, PA. HVE has a diverse group of private, public and non-profit clients in Western Pennsylvania. Overview: We are seeking an entry level Civil Engineer who will support the planning, design, and permitting of sustainable site development projects by assisting with site visits, data collection, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance under the guidance of senior staff. Core responsibilities include preparing engineering plans and reports, developing permit applications, and ensuring projects meet environmental and quality standards while contributing to innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact.Key Responsibilities<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Collaborate with project managers and senior engineers to plan, design, and oversee sustainable site development, grading, and construction projects that align with HVE's mission of environmental stewardship.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections to collect and compile data on environmental resources, ensuring projects meet and exceed regulatory requirements and best practices.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Prepare clear, concise reports and technical documentation that support environmental permitting, compliance, and project execution.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Develop design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure improvements, with a focus on sustainable and innovative solutions.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including the development and review of stormwater management and erosion and sediment control plans to minimize environmental impact.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Prepare and submit federal, state, and local permit applications, including NPDES and waterway permits, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Provide construction observation and field engineering services to verify adherence to environmental and quality standards.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Assist with grant and funding applications to support environmentally responsible initiatives.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Other duties as assigned by the Engineer Manager</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Must be able to reliably commute to New Stanton, PA offices. </li><li style="line-height:normal">Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) registration or ability to obtain within one year.</li><li style="line-height:normal">0-2 years' experience; consulting experience is a plus.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to clients and prepare technical reports.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Demonstrated commitment to sustainability, quality, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Physically able to perform fieldwork and travel as required; valid driver's license.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, or other engineering software is beneficial.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Team player with strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.</li></ul>At HVE, we believe in innovation and social responsibility. ERM is seeking a project manager, Principal Consultant, Electric Transmission Routing and Siting, to support our growing power sector business in the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes U.S. Regions. The successful candidate will have proven success as a project manager on new-build electric transmission projects; managing staff in a project setting; assessing existing environmental conditions and predicting impacts; comparing alternatives; and preparing reports. Strong technical writing and communication skills are required. Experience with transmission line routing/siting and permitting. The ideal candidate will be located in the Mid-Atlantic U.S. or Midwestern U.S. Regions, but other locations will be considered.As a project manager, you will contribute your consulting and management skills to support the growth of ERM's business and client base in the Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes U.S. Regions, while networking with ERM's global impact assessment team and other technical experts. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid- to senior-level professional looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader.Responsibilities:• Direct routing and siting studies, conduct analyses, and oversee the preparation of reports for new-build electric transmission projects with complex technical/regulatory issues.

• Prepare written expert witness testimony for evidentiary hearings and provide oral testimony at such hearings when required.

• Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.Requirements:A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Land Use Planning, Cultural Resources, or related disciplines; or equivalency of 2 years experience per year of education.6+ years consulting or industry experience working with power clients on complex projects. Previous experience managing and supporting the routing and siting of electric transmission projects, particularly in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic Region.Excellent writing, communication, strategic/critical thinking, and "people" skills. A high degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of transmission line siting and construction best practices, with a solid grasp of key impact assessment issues (e.g., wetlands, protected species, visual resources, cultural resources).Well-developed team-building and influencing skills, high integrity, and the experience to effectively address client and business needs and challenges. A positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.Travel up to 15 percent of the time.Salary and Benefits:For the Principal Consultant, Electric Transmission Routing and Siting position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $104,236 - $137,540 (USD). An employees pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
