Peraton provides management and technical support for NASA’s scientific balloon program which supports enabling science missions for NASA and universities across the United States and foreign scientific communities. Scientific balloon missions provide researchers inexpensive, relatively quick, long duration access to near space altitudes and environments. Balloon missions cost orders of magnitude less than satellite missions and provide platforms for heavy experiments (some greater than 7000-lbs) to operate for weeks and even months. Balloon missions have provided significant science theories and discoveries about cosmic rays, gamma ray and x-ray astronomy, optical and UV astronomy, atmospheric sciences, and cosmic microwave background studies. Our staff are located at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility (CSBF) in Palestine, TX where we design, analyze, build and assemble the support hardware and balloon gondola payloads for the missions. We launch the balloons from locations within the United States (Texas, New Mexico, and Hawaii) and around the world including Antarctica, Sweden, New Zealand, and Australia. Our engineers and technician staff support the launches and balloon and payload recoveries in the US and many worldwide locations. Peraton’s NASA Balloon Operations Contract (NBOC) program is seeking a candidate to support test, integration, and field operations for NASA Balloon missions. Our rural campus offers the ability to work in a low-cost of living area, but within an easy drive of Tyler, Dallas and Houston.     Responsibilities for the position:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Support the NASA Scientific Balloon Program in the use of networking equipment on balloons.  Help design and document the networks, including means for access control and systems topology.</li><li>Support electrical circuits, assemblies, and devices for a variety of applications including balloon flight hardware, ground support hardware, test equipment, and/or facility modifications</li><li>Perform complex integration and testing of networking and electronic systems including simulating mission configurations in a flatsat environment.</li><li>Plan the manufacture, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus</li><li>Work directly with engineers in other disciplines in system development and integration</li><li>Act as internal consultant providing technical guidance on complex projects</li><li>Design, fabricate, test, verify, and integrate electrical and supporting network systems</li><li>Assess technical specifications and issue procurement requests; attend meetings, write and deliver reports and presentations to clients and managers</li><li>Prepare design documentation including technical text, illustrations, tables, and schematics</li><li>Draw plans and specifications for projects using computer assisted engineering and design software</li><li>Estimate material, construction, and labor costs with project timescales</li><li>Test installations / systems; analyze data.  Ensure all applicable electrical / construction safety regulations are followed/met.</li></ul>Must be able to travel, up to 60% travel in a calendar year  

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Bachelor of Science in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering degree</li><li>Two or more years of experience</li><li>Understanding of test installations and familiar with test equipment</li><li>Experience in IPV4 network design, routing, network address translation.</li><li>Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Must be able to obtain a NASA PIV badge</li><li>Must be a US Citizen</li></ul>Desired Qualifications:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Virtual private network concepts. Implementation of VPN/IPSEC tunneling protocols/authentication schemes</li><li>Implementation of network topology designs, with documented continual review/improvement of systems.</li><li>Digital circuit design, mixed signal circuit design, and signal conditioning design</li><li>Network security implementation, firewall or access control lists, for remote networks connecting via VPN</li></ul> Specific Requirements / Licensing Special Requirements:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Must be able to travel to support campaigns in various locations around the world</li><li>Must have or be able to obtain a passport</li><li>Must pass the National Science Foundation Physical (Medical) requirement to work in Antarctica </li></ul>

Target Salary Range:
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Overview:
What You Will DoAs an Instrumentation Technician I, you will play a crucial role in performing a variety of services on instrumentation and control systems used in the automation of industrial processes. A Typical Day at Prime Controls<ul><li>Performs a variety of instrumentation and automation services, troubleshooting, calibration, installation, testing, and commissioning.</li><li>Troubleshoots instrumentation functionality and I/O operation.</li><li>Repair instrumentation, typically involving calibration using a variety of meters and tools.</li><li>Sets up new instrumentation and calibrates to specifications using schematics and drawings.</li><li>Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.</li><li>Assists with a variety of related installation and maintenance projects for automating large industrial processes.</li><li>Uses computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce reports.</li><li>Works with engineers testing and commissioning PLC systems.</li><li>Travel to customer sites to provide services as required.</li></ul> What You Will Bring The Basic<ul><li>1 year experience as an instrumentation technician</li><li>Technical knowledge of the operation of AC and DC drives.</li><li>A thorough understanding of speed feedback devices theory and operation.</li><li>An understanding of temperature control and temperature components.</li><li>A good understanding of PID and control loops.</li><li>A good understanding of Ethernet communications and connections.</li><li>Proficient in PLC and HMI systems, including communications drivers and connections, PLC program navigation and controlled manipulation.</li><li>A thorough understanding of all electrical components and electronic devices.</li><li>Show an understanding and demonstrate the processes involved in diagnosing defective components, motors, drives and electronic components.</li><li>Able to demonstrate the ability to use diagnostic equipment.</li></ul>

Manufacturing Engineering Manager Location: Jacksonville, TX (On-site)  Reports To: Plant Manager  Employment Type: Full-Time Overview  We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our plant’s engineering, maintenance, and tool & die functions in support of safe, reliable, and cost-effective production. This role is responsible for the design, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling. The ideal candidate will drive equipment reliability, strengthen technical capabilities, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Accountability Lead, coach, and develop Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Tool & Die teams. Enforce machine safety, guarding, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices. Budget & Resource Management  Develop and manage budgets for engineering, maintenance, tooling, and capital investments. Monitor labor, spare parts, contractors, and tooling costs for effective resource utilization. Performance Metrics & Cross-Functional Alignment  Track and report key performance indicators including OEE, downtime, tooling performance, and project execution. Partner closely with Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to achieve plant objectives. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.7–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role. Experience in HVAC or a related industry is strongly preferred.Strong background in process design, equipment integration, and project management. Proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in a manufacturing setting.Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
