Education, Experience & Qualifications: The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, have an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a Finance/Business-related degree, and 0 to 2 years of experience in an accounting or tax role. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees and taxing agencies regarding tax matters and the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and non-technical language.

Position Summary:
The Staff Tax Accountant for income tax reports to the Income Tax Manager. The individual will work with the Income Tax Manager to prepare and file the company’s income, franchise, and other miscellaneous tax workpapers and returns across various jurisdictions in the United States and Canada. The individual may also work with our outside tax consultants in any tax filings and perform certain monthly account reconciliations.  Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction for any employer. We are not able to provide visa sponsorship or assume existing sponsorships. The individual will work in the Rutland, Vermont office. Hiring range: $52,600 to $69,000 bonus eligible position  #INDSJ

Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Demonstrates knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax laws and regulations in relevant state, local and federal jurisdictions</li><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Assists the Income Tax Manger in performing research on relevant tax questions and issues as they arise</li><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Assists in compliance and reporting obligations for all taxes overseen by the Tax Department including federal, state and local corporate income tax, property taxes, franchise taxes and abandoned and unclaimed property compliance and reporting</li><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Communicates with departments across the company to obtain necessary documentation for tax purposes</li><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Analyzes and reconciles tax accruals</li><li style="color:#2d2d2d">Responds to communication from regulatory agencies</li><li>Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills, an ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines</li><li>Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of tax matters and the Company, and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values</li><li>Assists with other miscellaneous returns and special tax projects as assigned</li></ul>

Education, Experience & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, have an Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a Finance/Business-related degree, and 0 to 2 years of experience in an accounting or tax role. The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment. A solid understanding of general accounting rules, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, strong follow-through, and the ability to multitask and meet consistent deadlines are required. Excellent listening and communication skills, the ability to adapt to change, and adeptness at identifying issues and formulating solutions are necessary.  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and a customer-service approach to working with internal departments and external customers are expected. Although not required, a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other Finance/Business-related degree is preferred. Only U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, TN Visa holders, or applicants with authorized temporary work status may apply.  U.S. work authorization is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.
