Some areas of emphasis include but are not limited to systems/data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, modern design and optimization, and molecular dynamics for catalysis, energy storage and conversion, smart materials and nanomaterials, multi-functional polymer and ceramics, high-entropy alloys, and bio-/ bio-inspired materials. The primary appointment can be in the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, which houses ongoing work in material synthesis, catalysis and energy storage, or in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, which houses ongoing work in advanced additive manufacturing of polymer composites, multifunctional ceramics, and metallic laser powder bed fusion.
