Job Description:
Salt Lake County Most Vulnerable Populations Service/Internship Positions Are you looking to make a difference in your community? Salt Lake County's Most Vulnerable Populations AmeriCorps Program focuses on reducing systematic inequities in housing stability. AmeriCorps Members help bridge the gap and reduce barriers for a variety of vulnerable populations including but not limited to; youth, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those involved in the Criminal Justice System. AmeriCorps Members are placed in community agencies to serve individuals and families by assisting in activities such as housing placement, job placement, system navigation, healthcare liaisons, volunteer recruitment, and more. What is AmeriCorps AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors by engaging adults in public service work, with a goal of helping others and meeting critical needs in the community. "The program is often seen as the domestic Peace Corps.” Members commit to a 12 month part time (675 to 900 Hrs.) service/internship position. Location (Sub-sites) Members are placed throughout the community in a network of nonprofit community organizations and public agencies, to fulfill assignments in reducing barriers for vulnerable populations. This position is for a temporary PATHS Camp Counselor supporting a program that prepares first-generation high school students for higher education.

This position is for a temporary PATHS Camp Counselor supporting a program that prepares first-generation high school students for higher education. They will supervise, mentor, and lead activities for groups of up to 20 students during day and residential camps at the university campus from May to July 2026. Responsibilities include ensuring student safety, developing and delivering curriculum, maintaining safety standards, modeling positive behavior, and communicating with parents and staff. Minimum qualifications include three years of related experience or education, strong communication skills, and knowledge of youth development principles. Preferences include relevant academic majors, age 21+, and a valid driver’s license. The role involves training, camp facilitation, and debriefing, with work hours approximately 40 hours/week. Additional requirements include background checks, adherence to university policies, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
