<p>The City of Altoona is seeking temporary winter/seasonal employees to support the Public Works Department during the winter months. In this role, you will assist in maintaining safe and accessible roadways during snow and ice events, ensuring the community can navigate through the winter season. Responsibilities include operating snow removal equipment, trucks, and other machinery as needed, alongside performing manual labor tasks.</p><p>This position is temporary, with shifts varying based on weather conditions, and typically runs from December 1st through April 15th. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>• High School Diploma or equivalent.</p><p>• Valid State driver's license is required.</p><p>• A valid State Class 'B' CDL license is preferred, but not required.</p><p>• Previous experience with medium and heavy equipment is beneficial, particularly plows and snow removal equipment.</p><p>• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Starting wage $17.98 per hour with opportunities for career advancement. </p><p/><p>The City of Altoona is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>

The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.<br/><br/></div><div>The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Temporary Sorter/Processor to perform a variety of functions in order to assist in the operation of the sorting room or production area of a Production Store. <br/><br/></div><div><strong>Duties:</strong></div><ul><li>Assist as required with sorting room operation.</li><li>Cross train in all sorting room functions under the guidance of the Sorting Room Supervisor.</li><li>Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of sorting room area.</li><li>Maintain a clean and clutter free work area.</li><li>Responsible for baling as needed.</li><li>This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor).</li><li>Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.</li></ul><div> </div><div><strong>Temporary Sorter:</strong></div><ul><li>Process and sort donations by inspecting and separating saleable from unsaleable items.</li><li>Deliver a minimum of 300 store quality garments per hour.</li><li>Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric, and shoes.</li></ul><div><br/></div><div><strong>Hanger/Tagger:</strong></div><ul><li>Process, hang, and tag all sorted merchandise.</li><li>Deliver a minimum of 225 hung garments per hour.</li><li>Ensure clothes are hung according to policy and on proper hanger.</li><li>Ensure that tag is properly placed on garment according to Salvation Army policy.</li></ul><div><strong> </strong></div><div><strong>Pricer:</strong></div><ul><li>Process and price all sorted merchandise.</li><li>Deliver a minimum of 225 priced garments per hour.</li><li>Ensure that quality, name brand, condition, etc., are considered to determine price of garment.</li></ul><div><br/></div><div><strong>Bric a Brac:</strong></div><ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily. </li><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul><div> </div><div><strong>Shoes/Accessories:</strong></div><ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.</li><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li><li>Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul><div> </div><div><strong>Domestics:</strong></div><ul><li>Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required</li><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li><li>Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul><div> </div><div><strong>Books/Records/Toys:</strong></div><ul><li>Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.</li><li>Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item in accordance with established policies.</li><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial Rag Out Calendar.</li></ul><div> </div><div><strong>Furniture/Electrical:</strong></div><ul><li>Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.</li><li>Ticket all electrical merchandise using “sold as is” tickets and assign an individual fair market price for each item.</li><li>Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.</li><li>Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.</li><li>Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.</li><li>Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.<br/><br/></li></ul><div><strong>Qualifications:</strong></div><ul><li>Have a working knowledge of clothing quality and price.</li></ul><br/><br/><strong>About The Salvation Army:</strong><p>For more than 100 years, The Salvation Army has operated rehabilitation facilities across the country that provide help and hope to individuals with a variety of problems, including issues relating to substance abuse.
