Maintains and monitors a comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations relating to University-wide domestic water, cross connection, and sanitary drainage systems by receiving work orders; communicating with coworkers, supervisor, manager, and the Call Center; planning, inspecting, verifying, communicating, and troubleshooting facility plumbing issues; performing primary and back-up plumbing work regularly when necessary; testing and repairing backflow devices on all university buildings, and domestic water, irrigation and fire lines; estimating time and associated costs of service work; ensuring that corrective measures have been provided for all identified problems or concerns; developing and maintaining strong customer service practices including customer involvement, communication, notifications, and process reviews; ensuring that all maintenance activities are well-planned, delivered and completed in the most effective manner possible; ensuring that all work performed follows the departmental and OSHA safety guidelines, policies, and regulations; and ensuring that systems are in safe working order and are compliant with national and local codes and regulations while exhibiting a professional demeanor including conduct, appearance, and work practices. Serves in addition to and as backup to the Trackhoe Operator by operating trackhoe to install and repair backflows, and to provide digging services for other service units to install and/or repair water, sewer, steam and storm drain lines following established Palmetto Utility Protection Services processes, and safety guidelines, and compliant with national and local codes and regulations; maintaining the track hoe including conducting routine inspections, performing minor repairs, ensuring that preventative maintenance duties are performed according to established schedules, troubleshooting and solving or reporting mechanical problems, taking vehicle to approved wash facilities and ensuring vehicle is properly cleaned, and following all safety procedures, and national and local codes and regulations; and installing new backflows where needed on University grounds and equipment, including irrigation, make up water for mechanical systems, and domestic systems.
