We are centered on caring for the whole person – with expert medical care, pain management as well as emotional and spiritual support along with resources, information, and emotional support for families and caregivers.<h3>About the role:</h3>The volunteer provides patient care and support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance with organization policies. <h3>Job Responsibilities: </h3><ol><li>Serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group amid various settings: home care; respite; inpatient, bereavement, and/or administrative; office duties.</li><li>Participates in general orientation.</li><li>Serves the patient and family/caregiver under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager or as a part of the administrative team.</li><li>Serves as substitute family/caregiver in the home performing activities that the volunteer has been prepared for and has agreed to perform.  The volunteer may do homemaker chores, run errands, and provide respite care as well.</li><li>Documents as educated and instructed maintaining confidentiality.</li><li>Meets all health requirements set by Luminary Hospice.</li><li>Provides availability regularly and/or keeping with the patient and family/caregiver needs.</li><li>Participates in volunteer support groups and/or educational in-services.</li><li>Maintains open communication and reports regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator.</li><li>Assignment of other duties (as needed) directed by the Volunteer Coordinator.</li><li>Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.</li><li>Participates in interdisciplinary group meetings, as appropriate.  </li></ol><h3>Job Qualifications: </h3><ol><li>Mature individual, supportive of the hospice concept, comfortable with his/her spirituality, and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity.</li><li>Surviving family members: must meet ayear's waiting period after the patient's death to participate in direct patient care or public relations activities.</li><li>Successful completion of the hospice's volunteer training and orientation program.</li><li>Previous volunteer experience may be helpful.</li><li>Ability to work within an interdisciplinary group.</li><li>If making home visits, must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order. </li></ol><h3> Physical Demands:</h3>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Humane is looking for a full-time Volunteer Programs Coordinator responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, scheduling and directing the volunteer programs with the Volunteer Programs Manager to help support all Humane Fort Wayne departments through creative solutions and engagement that involve, educate and celebrate a diverse community and its volunteers. This is not a supervisory role, however this position does coordinate many volunteers and will help assist managers and volunteers with issues in relation to the volunteer program.

 Humane is looking for a full-time Volunteer Programs Coordinator responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, scheduling and directing the volunteer programs with the Volunteer Programs Manager to help support all Humane Fort Wayne departments through creative solutions and engagement that involve, educate and celebrate a diverse community and its volunteers.  What You’ll Do <ul><li>Effectively communicate with Humane staff and volunteers, providing education and information accordingly. </li><li>Put together a weekly newsletter, requiring the collection of information and the creation of content and design. </li><li>Accurately maintain physical and digital records and time for volunteers.</li><li>Select, schedule, and train volunteers.</li><li>Prepare volunteer supplies.</li><li>Set up for and lead volunteers at on site and at off site events.</li><li>Answer inquiries and correspondence about volunteering in a timely manner.</li><li>Assist with organizing and coordinating volunteer schedules across multiple platforms</li><li>Clean and organize volunteer areas.</li><li>Assist the Volunteer Programs Manager with recruitment, onboarding, education and training of long term volunteers.</li><li>Assist with scheduled corporate, school and group volunteer days.</li><li>Assist with creating and implementing new volunteer programs.</li><li>This is not a supervisory role, however this position does coordinate many volunteers and will help assist managers and volunteers with issues in relation to the volunteer program.</li><li>Run Pet Food Pantry regularly scheduled bagging times at associated locations.</li><li>Travel between Humane Fort Wayne locations for weekly office hours. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Volunteer Programs Coordinator.</li></ul>What You Bring <ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Must be able to learn and communicate basic information, policies and procedures from all Humane Fort Wayne departments.</li><li>An upbeat, positive attitude.</li><li>Able to give and receive instruction.</li><li>Must have good time management skills and take initiative in their duties.</li><li>Must be comfortable and excited to professionally communicate and work with people from a variety of backgrounds.</li><li>Must be computer literate and able to learn new software programs.</li><li>Must be committed to the pet retention, spay/neuter, wellness and adoption mission of Humane Fort Wayne and be able to communicate this mission with a professional and friendly manner.</li><li>Must be willing to travel between Humane Fort Wayne locations for weekly office hours. </li><li>Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation</li></ul>Physical Requirements <ul><li>Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work standing or sitting for 8 hours</li><li>Must possess an acceptable degree of dexterity in hands and fingers and be able to use arms above your head, bend at the waist, crawl & climb.</li><li>Must have good vision including peripheral vision, fine detail, distance, depth perception and ability to focus. </li></ul>Animal Handling <ul><li>Minimal animal handling will be expected of this position; however, some basic skills are needed to perform certain tasks</li><li>Must be able to learn characteristics of animal behavior and properly apply and share those handling skills with volunteers (for example: be able to identify aggressive or fearful behavior)</li><li>Should be able to identify their own animal handling limitations and ask for help </li></ul>
