The department provides coverage to the <a href="#" rel="nofollow">Special Care Nursery</a> in La Crosse in collaboration with the local Family Medicine Residency Program. The <a href="#" rel="nofollow">Family Birthplace</a> birthing center in La Crosse experiences approximately 600 births annually. A team of Rochester-based <a href="#" rel="nofollow">pediatric specialists</a> also provide outreach services in La Crosse on a scheduled basis.The scope of the inpatient pediatrician/pediatric hospitalist duties include:<ul><li>Direct care of admitted pediatric patients within the hospital (typically 50 admissions annually)</li><li>Consultations with colleagues on pediatric patients from within the region (clinic or hospital-based)</li><li>Precepting and direct teaching of residents and other trainees, as re: research and other academic pursuits</li><li>Citizenship and advancement of the inpatient pediatrician/pediatric hospitalist practice</li></ul>The standard shift for the full-time (1.0 FTE) inpatient pediatrician/pediatric hospitalist is 12 hours per day in-house for a total of 24 weeks per year.<a href="#" rel="nofollow">Mayo Clinic Health System</a> is a family of clinics, hospitals and other health care facilities serving more than 60 communities in southern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin.
