The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with organizational leadership and serves as a primary point of contact for incoming volunteers, helping ensure smooth onboarding and clear communication.

Grounded Boots Relief is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to help manage and support our growing volunteer base. This role is central to how we operate, ensuring volunteers are welcomed, organized, and matched to meaningful opportunities that align with their skills and interests. Grounded Boots Relief operates two core programs: Long Term Recovery efforts focused in Western North Carolina, and Crisis Response operations within a 500 mile response radius. This position may support one or both programs, depending on availability and interest. An ideal candidate is able to support both local recovery work and crisis response coordination, though we are open to having multiple coordinators share responsibilities. The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with organizational leadership and serves as a primary point of contact for incoming volunteers, helping ensure smooth onboarding and clear communication. Responsibilities<ul><li>Receive and review incoming volunteer applications </li><li>Initiate first contact with new volunteers by phone or email </li><li>Organize volunteers by skills, experience, availability, and interests </li><li>Distribute role appropriate welcome and onboarding materials </li><li>Communicate upcoming volunteer opportunities and deployment needs </li><li>Maintain accurate records of active and inactive volunteers </li><li>Process volunteer status changes upon request </li><li>Coordinate background checks for applicable volunteer roles </li><li>Provide regular updates to organizational leadership regarding volunteer capacity and needs </li></ul>This role is ideal for someone who is organized, people oriented, and comfortable communicating clearly and professionally. Experience with volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, or emergency response environments is helpful but not required. Grounded Boots Relief values flexibility, initiative, and collaboration. This position plays a critical role in building a reliable, prepared volunteer network that supports communities during both crisis response and long term recovery.

Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public so as to uphold Black Mountain Home's mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families. - Lead volunteer stewardship program, including making phone calls, sending thank you cards, and other activities to engage and express appreciation for volunteers.

Duties & Responsibilities • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a strong Christian witness in all interactions with youth, staff, donors, volunteers, and the general public so as to uphold Black Mountain Home's mission of Glorifying God by caring for children, youth, and families. • Commit to pray regularly for the youth, staff, and ministry. • Attend staff meetings which include participation in a time of Christian devotion and prayer. Review minutes and sign off for missed meetings to stay aware of ministry updates. • Lead the ministry's volunteer department, including volunteer recruitment, recordkeeping, engagement, and stewardship. - Build relationships and help recruit ministry volunteers through community events, by planning and leading People with Purpose volunteer orientations, and other tours. - Process volunteer application by ensuring all forms are complete, contacting references, and processing background checks and fingerprint applications. - Place approved volunteers within ministry areas according to their interest, skillsets, and experience. - Maintain volunteer files and track when two-year updates are due. - Manage the daily operations of the RV Park, including serving as leader to the Camp Host. - Reserve sites for campers and manage RV Park schedule. - Welcome RVers upon arrival, providing information as needed. - Create monthly time sheets for each volunteer. - Oversee volunteer time sheet process, ensuring time sheets and feedback forms (#307b) are completed. - Oversee group volunteer program, including but not limited to: - Serving as point of contact for prospective and returning groups. - Scheduling, calendaring, and managing timelines and assignments. - Ensuring each group completes a feedback form (#307a). - Process feedback forms (#307a & 307b) and write thank you letters for all volunteer groups and RV volunteers. - Create name badges for new volunteers as needed. - Request department volunteer hours and complete the volunteer hours report twice a month. - Maintain a weekly volunteer calendar. - Lead volunteer stewardship program, including making phone calls, sending thank you cards, and other activities to engage and express appreciation for volunteers. - Collaborate with all ministry departments as they assist with volunteer recruitment, recordkeeping, engagement, and stewardship. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of volunteer management experience. • Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
