Job Posting End Date:Worker Sub-Type:CasualScheduled Weekly Hours:0Overview:The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Team Member is a volunteer position that assists Marathon County Emergency Management and the Marathon County Health Department in disaster response, public health initiatives, community preparedness, and community health outreach. MRC volunteers are critical in enhancing community resilience by providing medical and non-medical support during emergencies, public health crises, and other community events.Duties:<ul><li>Emergency Response Assistance during public emergencies, including natural disasters, pandemics, or mass casualty events,</li><li>Provide first aid or assist other community partners at shelters, emergency clinics, or points of dispensing (POD) sites.</li><li>Assist with damage assessments.</li><li>Assist with Multi-Agency Resource Centers.</li><li>Assist in the Emergency Operations Center.</li><li>Training and Exercises Attend and complete MRC training sessions, including emergency preparedness, CPR/first aid, and disaster response courses,</li><li>Stay informed about new threats and develop readiness skills to respond effectively.</li><li>Logistical support: Provide logistical and other administrative support during emergencies.</li><li>Disaster Preparedness: Assist in developing and implementing disaster preparedness and recovery plans.</li><li>Community Outreach: Participate in community outreach programs to educate and promote emergency preparedness.</li><li>Help in outreach programs, including distributing health information and promoting healthy behaviors.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>MRC volunteers can be medical and non-medical professionals, such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, EMTs, Firefighters, veterinarians, epidemiologists, interpreters, chaplains, office workers, and more,</li><li>Experience or interest in public health, emergency management, or community engagement is a plus,</li><li>Volunteer Spirit: Demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteerism and community service.</li></ul>Skills/Experience:<ul><li>Flexibility: Be willing to work in various settings and under changing conditions,</li><li>Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team,</li><li>Reliability: Be dependable and punctual,</li><li>Willingness to participate in emergency response efforts,</li><li>Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments,</li><li>Strong communication and teamwork skills,</li><li>Problem-solving and adaptability in changing conditions.</li></ul>Benefits:<ul><li>Opportunity to serve the community,</li><li>Contribute to the health and well-being of your community,</li><li>Gain valuable experience and skills,</li><li>Connect with other healthcare professionals,</li><li>Experience the personal satisfaction of making a difference.</li></ul>Special Accommodations:Marathon County will make arrangements to furnish appropriate auxiliary aids and services where necessary and reasonable to afford an individual with a disability the opportunity to participate in the recruitment process.
