This job refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication orders, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physician''s orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies, height, weight) when needed; accurately compounds IV Admixtures and other assigned preparations utilizing aseptic technique and proper pharmaceutical procedures; maintains stock in all assigned areas including the IV room and other pharmacy areas; performs related clerical duties including typing, answering phone, filing and greeting nurses and physicians at the Pharmacy window. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
