High school graduation and three years of experience working with individuals with significant behavioral needs and intellectual disabilities and two years of supervisory experience with emphasis on behavioral management, preferably with one year of such experience being with individuals with significant behavioral needs and intellectual disabilities; Or an associate degree in a human services field and two years of experience working with individuals with significant behavioral needs and intellectual disabilities with emphasis on behavioral management, preferably with one year of such experience being with individuals with significant behavioral needs and intellectual disabilities; Or a four-year degree and one year of experience working with individuals with significant behavioral needs and intellectual disabilities, with emphasis on behavioral management; Or a four-year degree in a human services field. Training covers a broad area and includes complex behavioral programming, role modeling, on-the-spot counseling and decision-making, transportation, crisis intervention, maintaining home-like setting, and such entities as self-help, communication, activities of daily living, generalization of skills learned in more formal settings, etc.
