Overview:
This position is for West Virginia State University The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the facility. This role involves performing daily cleaning and sanitation tasks, ensuring all assigned areas meet established cleanliness and safety standards, and promptly addressing spills, waste removal, and routine maintenance needs. The Custodian plays an essential role in supporting the overall appearance, hygiene, and functionality of the facility, contributing to a positive experience for staff, students, and visitors. 

Responsibilities:
  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Collects and disposes of trash following approved procedures and infection control plans. </li><li>Dust and damp mops floors following approved procedures. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Moves equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Cleans assigned areas with the use of assigned materials and equipment. Sanitize all surfaces. Follows the eight-step cleaning procedure. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Washes walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Seeks out areas requiring cleaning; takes initiative to complete the task. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Performs tasks in accordance with all federal, state and county guidelines. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Strips, scrubs, buffs and refinish floors; shampoos carpet. </li></ul></li></ul><ul><li style="list-style: none;"><ul><li>Contributes to the team; exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees and others. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li></ul></li></ul>Work Environment:<ul type="disc"><li>The role primarily involves working within facility interiors, including offices, restrooms, and common areas. The candidate must be comfortable with exposure to cleaning chemicals and the physical demands of custodial work.</li><li>This role may require working from stairs, ladders or elevated platforms. </li><li>This is an essential position which may require work during inclement weather, evenings, holidays and weekends.</li></ul> Physical Requirements:<ul type="disc"><li>Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).</li><li>Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.</li><li>Ability to operate custodial equipment, such as buffers and vacuums.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>1-year Janitorial Experience </li><li>Ability to perform physically demanding tasks like lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.</li><li>Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization with a keen eye for detail.</li><li>Efficiently manage time to complete tasks within designated schedules.</li><li>Basic communication abilities to understand instructions and work effectively within a team or with supervisors.</li><li>Familiarity with various cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment used in custodial work.</li><li>Understanding and implementing safety guidelines when handling cleaning agents and operating equipment to prevent accidents.</li><li>Punctuality and consistency in completing assigned tasks.</li><li>Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Exposure to cleaning agents and dust. </li></ul>Who We Are:  Thompson Hospitality is of the largest restaurants, food service, and facilities management companies in the country. Originally designed as safe lodging for young women from rural communities coming to Charleston to pursue careers, the YWCA has evolved into the city’s most diverse and comprehensive network of social service programs.

<div>The Program: YWCA Resolve is a Family Domestic Violence Program offering 24/7 shelter, a help hotline, pet shelter, and emergency intervention for victims of domestic violence. The Position: Domestic Violence Advocate (Residential & Crisis Support). Days: Saturday and Sunday. Two shifts available: 4pm to midnight or midnight to 8:00am. </div><div>YWCA Charleston needs a compassionate and dependable Domestic Violence Advocate to support survivors in a residential shelter environment in the evening and overnight. This role provides frontline crisis response and day-to-day support that helps create a safe, calm, and empowering space for residents and their families. </div><div>The Advocate will respond to crisis calls, assist survivors with safety planning, and model healthy communication and conflict resolution within the shelter community. This position also plays a vital role in maintaining the warmth and stability of the home by helping settle house disputes, supporting residents with daily living skills, and assisting with shared responsibilities such as cooking, light cleaning, and overall care of the residence. </div><div>The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, strong boundaries, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations while promoting dignity, accountability, and healing for all residents. Experience in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or residential support is preferred, along with a deep commitment to YWCA’s mission of empowering women and strengthening families.
