  General Statement of Duties:This position is responsible for assisting in the preventive, regular, and urgent maintenance of all MRD indoor facilities. This position will assist with preserving the excellent condition and functionality of our business premises. This is accomplished through the upkeep and preparation of indoor facilities for recreation programs and activities. This includes the Community Recreation Center (CRC), Field House (FH), and several ancillary facilities (concessions, restrooms and storage).    Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor-Facilities.    Supervision Exercised: Directly supervises Maintenance Assistants and community service volunteers.     Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:  <ul><li>Inspects buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.</li><li>Repairs faulty equipment units and damaged structures.</li><li>Develops and implement preventative maintenance procedures.</li><li>Manages heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality.</li><li>Plans and schedules repairs.</li><li>Conducts periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.</li><li>Performs general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.</li><li>Help developing and implementing the budget for the maintenance department.</li><li>Maintains the inventory records for equipment and supplies.</li><li>Provides training to community service workers.</li><li>Assists in picking up litter around the facilities, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning restrooms, and fixing or replacing damaged facility items.</li><li>Aides in leading the completion of the annual maintenance opening and closure projects and tasks.</li><li>Maintains and cares for company provided equipment, tools and vehicles.</li><li>Performs snow removal as needed and directed.</li></ul>Position Qualifications: <ul><li>Effective problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a self-starter with ability to do job with little direction from their supervisor. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.</li><li>Able to work physically near other people when working on equipment or in tight spaces with others.</li></ul>Experience:  <ul><li>A minimum of two (2) years facilities maintenance or a similar role experience required. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and hydronic systems.</li><li>Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques</li><li>Education or Training: Equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED.</li></ul> License and Certification: Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant fields is preferred. Work Environment: The majority of time is spent working in an indoor recreational facility setting with outdoor recreational facility exposure. Will be required to work in all weather conditions and in close proximity to chemicals used in an aquatic and facilities environment. Occasionally exposure to wet or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals with proper personal protective equipment. Vehicle and Cellphone: MRD will furnish a work vehicle during work hours. MRD requires the employee to have a cell phone and will reimburse the employee a portion of the monthly service cost. Work Hours: This position is required to perform on-call during services during weekends on a rotational basis. Work hours have seasonal variations with evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Other related duties may be assigned.  <ul><li>Set-up all required and necessary equipment in order to get program started on time. </li><li>Ensure a safe playing/program area by inspecting facility and equipment prior to activity or event. </li><li>Ensure all additional staff such as scorekeepers, officials and volunteers are on time and ready to complete assigned tasks. </li><li>Coordinate with coaches, officials, and other staff to get games, activities and events started and ended as scheduled. </li><li>Act as a main point of contact and source of information for parents, spectators, players, and officials. </li><li>Provide the proper clean up after all games, programs and events have taken place. </li><li>Monitor users including spectators, coaches, and participants to ensure safe use of facilities and equipment. </li><li>Ensure all spectators, players, and coaches conduct themselves properly and within the standards of the Montrose Recreation District. </li><li>Document any behavior or acts deemed inappropriate, notifying supervisor or police when necessary.  </li></ul>Position Qualifications:  <ul><li>Must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>General knowledge of assigned sport or program. </li><li>Possess previous site supervisory experience or program participation.</li><li>Ability to calmly mediate and diffuse tense situations.</li><li>Has the ability to handle participants, team managers and/or coaches under difficult game situations.</li><li>Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, various community organizations, and the public. </li><li>First Aid/CPR certification, preferred. Or ability and willing to become certified. </li><li>Must be able to work evenings and weekends. </li></ul>Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk for up to 60 min at time, sit, talk, hear, read, and write.
