Overview:
The Director of Finance is a key member of the management team and will report to the General Manager. In this role, the Finance Director will be an advisor to and collaborator with the General Manager to provide information, analysis, and insights/recommendations with respect to corporate strategy, as well as financial and accounting matters. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the Bismarck Civic Center.   This position requires someone with intrinsic motivation, someone who is energized by the challenges of driving the brand positioning and the customer relationship from a financial perspective, and as a result, maximizes the equity value of the organization. In this role, the Director of Finance must be able to partner and collaborate with all levels of management to achieve fiduciary results. Effective communication is an essential skillset for this role. The successful candidate should possess a passion for the industry and be able to adapt to a continually evolving business environment. This role will pay an annual salary of $85,000 t0 $95,000 and is bonus eligible. Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays) This position will remain open until June 19, 2026.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Manage all Finance Department Staff.</li><li>Provide or coordinate staff training and development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.</li><li>Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.</li><li>Prepares financial statements for the Client and Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Reports.</li><li>Collaborate with on-site venue finance teams and General Managers to ensure industry best practices are in place at all managed facilities.</li><li>Partner with venue finance teams and General Managers in review and approval of venue budget in advance of presentation to clients.</li><li>Partner and collaborate with General Manager to prepare and present financial reports for monthly board meetings.</li><li>Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings in a timely manner.</li><li>Assist with projecting event deals, actual event P&L's, analysis, and "settlement" of shows on the night of events.</li><li>Reviews all contracts for client, events, subcontractors, food and beverage or concessionaires.</li><li>Oversee payroll process for accuracy and timeliness of paychecks.</li><li>Partner and collaborate with the Box Office to ensure accurate ticket sale receipts and reporting.</li><li>Collect and record food and beverage reports from F&B partner.</li><li>Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.</li><li>Be subject matter experts on accounting systems and processes.</li><li>Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.</li><li>Perform additional responsibilities and other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university, CPA or MBA is a plus.</li><li>5 to 7 years of related experience in public accounting and/or financial management.</li><li>NetSuite and Oracle EMP experience preferred.</li><li>Public accounting experience preferred.</li><li>Coupa (Accounts Payable software) experience is a plus.</li><li>Acts as Manager on Duty as required. </li><li>Ability to work nights and weekends as required.</li><li>Be a business partner with other departments ensuring financial success of the venue.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting.</li><li>Excellent math skills; high aptitude for figures.</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational ability.</li><li>Effective supervisory skills.</li><li>Experience with ADP payroll.</li><li>Sports & Entertainment Industry experience is preferred.</li><li>Strong understanding of accounting standards and practices</li><li>Experience managing back-office capabilities of staff accountants, A/P, A/R, and Payroll.</li><li>Detail-oriented with exceptional planning and organizational skills.</li><li>Excellent oral and written communications skills.</li><li>Self-starter with the desire to work with people, develop ideas, and drive efficiencies.</li></ul>

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Responsible for the overall management of the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.</li><li>Oversees all business and financial operations of the District including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.</li><li>Performs duties in support of the Park District’s accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.</li></ul>The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by the individual within this classification. They are not to be considered an exhaustive or all-inclusive listing of the position’s duties and tasks, as they may change or be adjusted, as situations require.<h1></h1><h1></h1><h1>JOB DUTIES/TASKS</h1><ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Direct and perform accounting and budget management functions and implement financial policies and procedures.</li><li>Prepare and print reports needed for daily deposits and balance daily cash receipts. Examine receipts for accuracy and completeness and resolve discrepancies. Record receipts and payments and post to general and subsidiary ledgers. Prepare daily bank deposits, review issued checks, and monitor bank balances.</li><li>Process and post receipts, cash, and credit card batches.</li><li>Review and approve 1099 and W2 reporting for IRS compliance and maintain vendor W9 files.</li><li>Receive invoices, verify accuracy, match invoices with statements, and process for payment.</li><li>Prepare and post journal entries and analyze account reconciliations.</li><li>Use the accounting system to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial data.</li><li>Review and recommend improvements in the District’s accounting and fund structure.</li><li>Compile data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintain and organize the District’s financial records.</li><li>Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for the District’s annual audit and serve as the primary contact for auditors.</li><li>Prepare monthly Board packet financial statements and year-to-date reporting.</li><li>Assist the Human Resource and Payroll Director with payroll processes and complete payroll when needed. This position will perform Payroll Director duties during the absence of the HR and Payroll Director.</li><li>Manage NDIRF and state fire and tornado insurance programs including valuations, renewals, and processing of claims.</li><li>Ensure compliance with Park District policies, rules, regulations, and governing documents related to financial operations.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of grant applications and sponsorship requests including financial reporting requirements.</li><li>Oversee and maintain asset listings for audit and insurance purposes and ensure accurate and timely submission.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul>KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Considerable knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, auditing practices, and public sector financial principles.</li><li>Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board requirements.</li><li>Knowledge of contracts, contract content requirements, and closeout procedures.</li><li>Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills.</li><li>Strong written and oral communication abilities.</li><li>High computer literacy including accounting systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.</li><li>Creativity and resourcefulness in completing financial tasks and solving problems.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks with staff, volunteers, and the public.</li><li>Ability to set and achieve goals through effective decision making. </li></ul>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>None.
