When you work for Texas Materials, you are helping to support and build the infrastructure of Texas.</p><p> </p><div><div><div><p><strong>Position Overview </strong></p></div><div><p>This position is physical in nature and needs someone who is able to be versatile in their abilities.  It is the backbone of each crew. </p></div><div><p><strong>Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) </strong></p></div><div><p>Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.   </p></div><div><p>Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.  </p></div><div><p>Report any problems to your manager.   </p></div><div><p>Assist construction / paving crew / plant crew with various duties such as; shoveling and raking and running wheelbarrow.  </p></div><div><p>Perform general labor duties when necessary.</p></div><div><p>Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.   </p></div><div><p>Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.   </p></div><div><p>May be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammer.  </p></div><div><p>Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes used in road, site or highway construction and paving. </p></div><div><p>Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.  </p></div></div><div><div><p>Perform daily pre–and–post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.  </p></div><div><p>Dig, spread and level construction materials.   </p></div><div><p>Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.  </p></div><div><p>Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.   </p></div><div><p>Perform other duties as assigned.  </p></div><div><p>Maintain traffic controls in all assigned work zones. When you work for Texas Materials, you are helping to support and build the infrastructure of Texas.</p><p> </p><p><b>Position Overview</b></p><p>Under the direction of the Senior Health and Safety Manager, the Safety Representative provides technical and compliance expertise to the field employees in terms of good safety habits and provide direction and skills for a safe work environment.  This position works closely with field supervision and personnel to achieve goals and support the safety of each of the company’s business units. </p><p> </p><p><b>Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)</b></p><ul><li>Assists with audits of plant facilities regulated under OSHA, General Industry and Construction Standards and MSHA Part 56 Safety and Health Standards for Surface Metal and Nonmetal Mines.</li><li>Investigate all incidents for root-cause development to ensure unsafe conditions/behavior is not repeated.</li><li>Participate on safety committee meetings and provide insight and resources on matters relating to committee safety concerns and corrective solutions.</li><li>Reinforce policies and procedures that support the company’s goals, the operations needs and achievement of safety results.  Support the company’s safety standards, teach Smith System defensive driving course to employees authorized to drive company vehicles.</li><li>Conduct employee training certifications, classroom training, and practical hands-on training.</li><li>Conduct job site safety inspections including specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.</li><li>Assist in conducting weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety training.</li><li>Assist with plant and roadway incident investigations and document all accidents, safety violations, injuries, and unsafe conditions/activities to find root cause and make recommendations for improvement.
