Essential Functions include knowing, explaining, and exemplifying the mission, purpose, and values of the Kroc Center and the Salvation Army; delegating, coaching, and instructing Day Camp staff to lead Day Camp and other recreation activities with enthusiasm according to training protocol; adhering to and implementing discipline procedures created for campers and staff; completing "Report to Parents" forms to inform parents, Day Camp Director, and other Day Camp Coordinators of issues, such as camper injuries, disputes, and behavioral problems; coordinating any camper, parent, staff, or volunteer issues with other Day Camp Coordinators and to Day Camp Manager in timely manner; following up with appropriate documentation as directed; maintaining an accurate group schedule for each camper group, including Day Camp Counselors that assigned to each specific group; overseeing and facilitating Day Camp sign-in/sign-out procedures according to protocol; communicating respectfully and with a positive tone with peers, employees, supervisors, and customers of various socio-economic backgrounds; enforcing facility- and activity-specific regulations to ensure safety; providing information and answering questions regarding available Day Camp programs; maintaining safe working environment; reporting and all facility defects/problems and any suspicious activities or persons to the Youth Development Manager & Director; performing point-of-scale operations, cash handling, and CCMS database management for all Day Camp programs; assisting in emergencies and treatment of injured participants, volunteers, and/or staff; following up by completing appropriate paperwork as directed; assisting Youth Development Director & Manager with planning and instruction for annual Day Camp Staff Training Seminar; developing, monitoring, and ensuring implementation of participant behavior contracts as needed; ensuring appropriate communication and completion of all documentation; supervising Day Camp Counselors and Junior Leaders & holding staff accountable for their responsibilities and actions while at camp; maintaining a positive and professional relationship with everyone; building a positive culture of coaching & accountability; creating all camp group schedules; completing all assigned tasks in a timely and orderly manner; recognizing spiritual need of individuals, which may require referral to the officer/pastor; maintaining and distributing participants' personal medications; maintaining medication logbook according to established procedures; assisting Youth Development Director & Manager with hiring: intake of candidates, pre-screen calls, interviewing, reference checks, and following paperwork collection; following and ensuring adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and the Day Camp Code of Conduct. Must meet certification by and participation in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program (Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that an employee may not obtain more than two [2] moving violations or accidents within any 12-month period; see The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy).
