Program serves youth between the ages of 14 and 19 who live in the City of Spartanburg and are ready for change. Hours will not exceed 32 hours per week. Examples of Duties <ul><li>Coordinates the summer youth workforce readiness program. </li><li>Facilitates youth employment and violence intervention sessions that engage youth in wellness activities, academic development, and career exploration. </li><li>Meets with community partners to organize site visits and events. </li><li>Communicates with parents to help connect youth to services. </li><li>Enters and monitors data into web-based system to keep track of program status. </li><li>Assists in the monitoring and compliance requirements related to youth development activities. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned. </li></ul>Typical Qualifications<ul><li>Must have excellent organizational and communication skills to work with a diverse group of young people. </li><li>Prior workforce coordination experience preferred. </li><li>Associate's Degree Required. </li></ul> Supplemental Information Pay Rate is $18 per hour.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Assist in the development and the implementation of specific program curriculum within the Sports Department primarily during the summer season in Sports Camps, through proper training, evaluation, and promotion of programs.</li><li>Assist in giving guidance and direction to sports participants and volunteers.</li><li>Assist in maintaining the equipment, inventory and program areas.</li><li>Develops relationships for the advancement and promotion of the YMCA Sports Program.</li><li>Ensure safety procedures are followed.</li><li>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers</li><li>Attend/complete required abuse risk management training</li><li>Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers</li><li>Follow mandated reporting requirements</li><li>Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities </li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Must be at least 16 years of age</li><li>Knowledge of recreation, physical education or some related field or equivalent work experience.</li><li>Knowledge of the following sports: baseball, basketball, football, track & field, and soccer, e.g., rules.</li><li>Possess skills in relationship building e.g. excellent communication skills.</li></ul>Beneficial Skills & Experience<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li style="margin-top:12pt">Have a full understanding of YMCA philosophy and live, work and perform work duties in a manner consistent with such.</li><li>Community involvement.</li><li>Experience working with youth of all ages.</li></ul>
