<h2>Position Overview</h2>Position Description  We are hiring a R&D Principal Scientist – Raw Material Characterization. The R&D Principal Scientist – RMC will lead technical projects related to raw material characterization (RMC) and formulation science services to both internal and external customers.<h2>Job Description</h2>Responsibilities:<ul><li>Build, manage and lead the RMC program and formulation science services group.</li><li>Collaborate with Quality, Product Line Management, Procurement, Manufacturing and R&D to create solutions for optimal media formulation quality and supply chain and vendor management.</li><li>Collaborate with external customers and provide formulation science services to create custom solutions for their formulations.</li><li>Hands on laboratory presence as needed to perform experiments and guide/mentor scientists.</li><li>Manage timelines for multiple projects.</li><li>Prioritize work based on the relative importance and urgency for the overall business</li><li>Effectively and consistently communicate with management and cross-functional teams on progress towards milestones and program needs </li><li>Prepare formal reports and presentations for group meetings</li><li>Apply scientific/ engineering principles and techniques to identify opportunities and improve media and buffer preparation processes</li><li>Use professional concepts to perform a wide range of assigned work and solve complex problems in practical ways</li><li>Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes</li><li>Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications</li><li>Good Documentation Practices & Good Laboratory Practices</li></ul>Required Skills/Education: <ul><li>PhD in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry</li><li>Minimum 10 years of working experience in Analytical Method Development and Optimization</li><li>Relevant working experience in a process development and/or technical operations setting</li><li>Effective communication skills with external and internal customers</li><li>Able to build strong relationships</li><li>Strong background in applied chemistry</li><li>Experience managing cross-functional projects</li><li>Capable of working on complex problems of a challenging nature </li><li>Capable of independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation of criteria for obtaining results to broadly defined objectives dictated by trends in business and the current product plan</li><li>Experience in technology and process improvements </li><li>Receives minimum instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments</li><li>Ability to speak, write and read English fluently.</li></ul>Salary and Benefits:<ul><li>For California, the base hourly range for this position is $104,313-$147,624.
