These 5 jobs let you spend your day on a bike
Just in time for National Bike to Work Day, we’ve found some opportunities that should please bike lovers everywhere.
Who doesn’t love a bike ride on a cool spring morning? That’s a trick question: Everyone loves a bike ride on a cool spring morning. That’s why they created National Bike to Work Day, an annual holiday celebrating the joy of the peddle-commute.
However, there’s no reason this day need come but once a year. In fact, there are plenty of jobs out there where you not only have the opportunity to bike to work, but you can spend the vast majority of the day behind (handle) bars, feeling the breeze on your face while flexing your astonishingly huge calf muscles.
We’ve taken the liberty of pulling a few of the latest bike-related jobs and their corresponding descriptions from Monster—so if today’s commute leaves you feeling inspired, there could very well be more bike-riding good times in your future. Just wait until you’re at the office and no longer dodging traffic to actually scroll through them. And remember: Wear a helmet!
1. Bike Mechanic
Location: Elkton, Florida
Description: This position will be working on all types of bikes to include but not be limited to the following: hybrids, road bikes, mountain bikes, folding bikes, single speeds, kids bikes, and assorted sporting goods. This position entails building bikes for individual customers and then re-boxing the bike for sales, building bikes and assorted sporting goods for photo shoots, gathering replacement parts for customers from product lines, and helping customers on the phone assembly their bikes and other products as well.
2. Street and Off-Road Bike Service Technician
Location: Pasco, Washington
Description: The technician in this role would service for a variety of powersports’ machines; we are a full service shop, we are looking for an individual who is not afraid to work on all types of machines such as street bikes, ATVs, and side by sides. This technician should have a diverse experience and ability. With a strong off-road and street bike parts department, we receive a robust amount of monthly incoming road and street bikes for service in comparison to the local OEM manufacture dealerships.
3. Bike Safety Officer
Location: Los Angeles, California
Description: Patrol assigned routes, including “high risk" areas in Downtown Los Angeles and assisting local law enforcement officers, fire fighters, governmental officials, military and sheriff’s departments working in the downtown area. The Bike-Patrol position requires that you be able to patrol via bike for the entire shift. You and your partner will assist each other and you must be able to use a two-way radio, pepper spray, baton and handcuffs.
4. Bike Courier, Food Pedaler
Location: St. Louis, Missouri

This job is great for those who have or are working towards physical education or recreation degrees or diplomas. No need to be an expert biker!
