6 Fastest Growing Jobs in Education and Social Services
More than 3 out of every 10 new jobs created will be in either healthcare and social assistance or public and private education
Over the next decade we can expect more than three out of every 10 new jobs created in the U.S. economy will be in either the healthcare and social assistance or public and private educational services sectors. Increasing demand for healthcare and social assistance because of an aging population and longer life expectancies will drive employment growth. Also, as more and more women enter and remain in the labor force, demand for childcare services is expected to grow. Rising student enrollments at all levels of education will create demand for educational services; ongoing profession-related education, especially through online universities will contribute increasingly to this growth.
Here are some of the fastest growing jobs in the education and social services sector. The six jobs noted all expect growth rates between 22 percent and 51 percent — all considered much faster than average growth by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Jobs | Growth % |
---|---|
Personal and Home Care Aide | 50% |
Social and Human Services Assistant | 34% |
Postsecondary Teacher | 23% |
Health Educator | 22% |
