Au Bon Pain was founded in 1978 by Louis Kane who came across a display in Boston showcasing a new line of French bakery ovens. The aroma and quality of the bread was so enchanting that he had an idea – why not make wonderful, fresh baked breads and croissants easily available to everyone in the city? From this chance encounter, Au Bon Pain was born.

Today we are a leader in the fast casual segment and recently named as one of America's Healthiest Restaurants by Health Magazine. With more than 250 locations, our cafes offer solutions for all needs; the highest quality and nutritious offerings, quick service, high hospitality, a unique marketplace, and a comfortable cafe environment. The company operates across multiple channels, including business & industry, hospitals, universities, transportation centers and specialty entertainment. Located in Boston, the company is privately-held with significant employee ownership.
