About Department of Water Resources

To prepare for California's wet weather, DWR employees held statewide flood emergency response meetings and flood fight training classes. Since September, a dozen preseason meetings with speakers from the National Weather Service, County Office of Emergency Services, Governor's Office of Emergency Services, California Conservation Corps, CAL FIRE and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers covered winter weather outlook, regional updates, emergency roles and responsibilities and web resources. Rick Burnett, DWR Flood Fight Specialist and other DWR staff have trained more than 1000 people statewide on sandbagging and levee repair methods. These preparedness activities with federal, state, county and local partners builds alignment, capability and operational capacity to respond to flood emergencies.
