About Saunders House

Saunders House has been operating continuously since 1864 when it began as the Old Man's Home of Philadelphia. The name was changed to Saunders House in 1960 when women were first admitted, and the facility moved to its current location in Wynnewood, PA. As the Old Man's Home, Saunders House afforded relief and the comforts of home to old men in indigent circumstances.

After 142 years of continuous operation, Saunders Hose remains dedicated to being a leader in providing long-term care and rehabilitative services involving community-based education and research-directed programs for the physical and emotional well-being of our residents.

Saunders House is located adjacent to Lankenau Hospital on nine picturesque acres. Our facilities include beds for 180 residents who need skilled and intermediate nursing care and residential accommodations for an additional 15. Saunders House offers specialized programs for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and individuals with visual impairments.
