With Honor

With Honor Action, Inc. With Honor addresses two related problems: veteran representation in the U.S. Congress is at a historic low, while national partisanship accelerates toward historic heights. Can we as a nation heal tribal divides by electing young military veterans and reminding voters of our better nature? Co-Founded by Harvard professor and former presidential advisor David Gergen, and social entrepreneur and post-9-11 veteran Rye Barcott, With Honor is the first and only nonpartisan Super Political Action Committee (PAC) for young veterans. With marketing support from J. Walter Thompson, we identify and provide defining support to veterans who pledge to govern based on principles over parties. Veterans have served something larger than themselves and are motivated by a common cause: the protection of our nation and its democratic way of life. They are in a unique position to be able to bridge bitter partisan divides and lead with honor. However, veterans did not learn fundraising skills while serving their country in uniform, and many young veterans do not have networks to affluent circles. The costs of an average Congressional race have increased by more than five times in twenty years. The single-most important factor for most candidates is now their ability to raise money, which is not always correlated to a candidate’s character and ability to lead. With Honor raises and deploys seed and strategic capital and provides a national network of world-class resources for the most promising veteran candidates in the United States. It does this to tell their American stories, win elections, and to give rise to a new generation of strong and principled servant-leadership that can shape the course of our nation.
