Nursing Home Administrator

This is an opportunity for a strong, visible operator to take ownership of a nearly full facility and lead its next phase of improvement. The building has solid census, a complete department head team, stable licensed nursing coverage, and strong operational flow. The organization is seeking a mature, hands-on leader who can strengthen culture, improve survey performance, and create greater accountability throughout the facility.

Position Summary

The Nursing Home Administrator will oversee the clinical, operational, financial, and cultural performance of the facility. This leader will be expected to maintain the building’s strong census while improving employee engagement, leadership visibility, regulatory performance, and the overall resident and family experience.

The ideal candidate is comfortable stepping into a challenging environment, establishing expectations, and working closely with the DON and department heads to create a more accountable and resident-focused culture. This is not a passive administrative role. The successful candidate must be visible throughout the building and actively engaged with staff, residents, and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and operational oversight of the 100-bed skilled nursing facility

• Build a positive, accountable culture through consistent visibility and staff engagement

• Partner closely with the DON to strengthen clinical leadership and increase presence throughout the building

• Maintain strong census performance while monitoring skilled mix, admissions, and discharges

• Lead survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement efforts

• Support department heads and establish clear expectations for communication, follow-through, and resident service

• Monitor staffing levels and help reduce reliance on agency CNAs

• Maintain open communication with residents, families, employees, and regional leadership

• Oversee financial performance, labor management, budgeting, and operational outcomes

• Ensure the facility consistently delivers high-quality, resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Active North Carolina Nursing Home Administrator license required

• Prior experience leading a skilled nursing facility strongly preferred

• Demonstrated success improving facility culture, regulatory performance, or operational outcomes

• Strong understanding of state and federal SNF regulations and survey requirements

• Ability to lead and develop department heads, including clinical leadership

• Mature, hands-on leadership style with strong visibility throughout the facility

• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work effectively in a rural market and maintain strong community relationships

• Base salary is negotiable based on experience
