The Banquet Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with food production, and supporting banquet and catering operations to ensure exceptional guest experiences. This position plays a critical role in maintaining food quality, consistency, sanitation, and efficiency in support of hotel events, meetings, weddings, and special functions.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining Hilton's standards of hospitality and food safety.
Food Preparation
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and production sheets, including cutting, chopping, slicing, peeling, marinating, and portioning.
- Assist with the preparation of banquet menu items, buffets, plated meals, and special event functions.
- Measure and mix ingredients in accordance with established recipes and chef specifications.
- Ensure proper food quality, appearance, taste, and presentation standards are met.
Banquet Support
- Assist with banquet setup and food service preparation.
- Maintain adequate levels of prepared food for scheduled events.
- Help coordinate timely execution of banquet functions and catering orders.
- Assist with breakdown and storage of banquet food and supplies following service.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all Hilton, Chartwell Hospitality, local health department, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Ensure safe handling of knives, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
Inventory & Organization
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to culinary leadership.
- Properly store food and supplies to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Participate in kitchen cleaning and organization projects as assigned.
Teamwork & Guest Service
- Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, banquet managers, and event teams.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
- Support hotel initiatives and contribute to a culture of hospitality and teamwork.
- Demonstrate Hilton's commitment to providing exceptional guest experiences.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous food preparation or kitchen experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet kitchen environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate kitchen equipment and utensils.
