The Brooklyn Center Recreation Department has a wonderful opportunity to start your career in the public sector, while gaining experience working in a collaborative Parks and Recreation Department team. We are currently recruiting for help at our frontdesk as a Customer Service Representative. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and passionate about communicating with the community. This part-time, non-benefit eligible, position is located at the Brooklyn Center Community Center. The Customer Service Representative will work approximately 6-18 hours per week, including weekends. Assists with the operation of the recreation/community center front office as well as administrative support for the Parks Recreation Department staff. Performs a variety of clerical and office procedures as well as handles telephone calls and walk-in customers to the facility. Must be available to work weekends however the availability to work weekday evenings, days and to be on call as needed. Reports to the Community Center Supervisor. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be Step A $20.255/hour up to Step B $21.268/hour.
Examples Of Duties
Technical
Inputs accurate information into RecTrac for membership and activity registrations.
Uses a variety of computer software programs such as Outlook and other Microsoft Office products to complete work tasks.
Clerical
Processes registrations for Parks & Recreation programs and activities, specifically membership, activity registrations, after school programs and senior programs.
Processes requests for field reservations, picnic shelter reservations and birthday parties.
Creates letters, memos, flyers, brochures, posters and other materials as directed.
Operates a variety of office equipment.
Completes daily cash reports.
Prepares recreation brochures for quarterly bulk mailing.
Provides clerical support to Program Supervisors and Golf Course Superintendent.
Occasionally assists with room set-ups and or recreation events.
General
Handles phone calls from the public and walk-in customers.
Keeps current with the changing of community center activities, hours, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of customer service experience
Experience with various computer software programs such Outlook and Microsoft Office programs
Desired Qualifications
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with individuals from a diverse array of backgrounds.
Previous experience in a recreation setting.
Experience with a multi-line phone system and heavy customer traffic.
Ability to speak, read or write any language other than English, including sign language.
