.NET Developer / Programmer Analyst

Location: Montgomery, Alabama

Clearance Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. as a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder; no Corp-to-Corp (C2C) arrangements

Position Status: Contract to Hire - 6 Months

Position Description

We are seeking an experienced .NET Developer / Programmer Analyst to support the development, enhancement, testing, and maintenance of mission-critical applications within a public-sector environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft .NET development experience, with strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, SQL, and application development. This role offers an opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, collaborate with business and technical stakeholders, and support both new development and established enterprise applications.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with both modern and legacy Microsoft technologies, including ASP.NET WebForms and VB.NET, while applying current software development, testing, security, and performance best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, test, debug, deploy, and maintain software applications.
• Build and enhance applications using C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, MVC, and WebForms.
• Develop clean, reusable, scalable code using C#, JavaScript, VB.NET, Bootstrap, SQL, and ASP.NET.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database functionality.
• Design and support database-driven applications and integrations.
• Integrate applications with third-party systems, APIs, and external services.
• Troubleshoot application and production issues and implement effective technical solutions.
• Provide ongoing production support, application maintenance, and end-user support.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, application specifications, and support documentation.
• Monitor applications and systems, identify issues, and communicate technical findings and resolutions.
• Follow software development best practices, coding standards, design patterns, and secure development principles.

Required Skills / Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on experience in Microsoft .NET technologies.
• Strong proficiency with C# and .NET Core.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET and MVC.
• Experience developing and maintaining ASP.NET WebForms applications.
• Experience with VB.NET.
• Strong SQL and relational database development experience, including stored procedures.
• Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP).
• Experience with software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and development best practices.
• Familiarity with software design patterns and scalable application architecture.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional .NET, Microsoft, or related technical certification.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable source-control and development tools.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices.
• Experience working on cross-functional software development teams.
• Experience supporting enterprise, government, healthcare, or other highly regulated applications.
• Experience modernizing or maintaining applications that combine legacy and modern .NET technologies.

• Candidates advancing to the second interview should be prepared to attend onsite in Montgomery, Alabama.
• This is a 6-month Contract-to-Hire opportunity.
• Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders.
• Corp-to-Corp (C2C) arrangements are not available.
