Prep Cook & Barista

The Prep Cook & Barista is a dual role in which the incumbent will assist with line service in the morning and barista duties in the afternoon. The Prep Cook plays a supportive role to kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and ingredients, ensuring food is delivered safely and efficiently. The Barista serves in the school's boutique coffee shop, Cha Cha's, by providing drink and food orders with a smile to students, faculty, and staff.

Hours: Monday – Friday Shifts between 8 am – 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Arrive on time.
• Fill online and walk-up orders.
• Prepare drink and food orders, while observing food safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean workspace.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Follow daily production schedule and meal preparation requirements, as directed by the chef.
• Label and stock all ingredients on shelves, so they can be organized and easily accessible.
• Measure ingredients and seasoning to be used in recipes.
• Wash and chop vegetables, meat, etc.
• Wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, take out trash.
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong references to convey abilities.

Core Competencies:

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• A team player and effective communication skills.
• Patient with the ability to stay positive under pressure.

Upon Hiring:

• Successful completion of criminal offenders' records information and sexual offender registry checks.
• Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
• Current CPR certification.
• Successfully complete Food Handlers training/certification within 30 days of employment (valid Texas Certified Food Manager Certificate In lieu of Food Handlers Certificate).

Physical Demands:

Frequent pushing, pulling, or lifting 10 or more pounds. Frequent and various back, forth, up, and down movement; ambulate across dining hall and other food service areas to clean tables, benches, utensils, equipment, and appliances. Ability to communicate information so others will understand; follow instructions; determine that areas, equipment, and utensils are sufficiently clean and safe, in compliance with school and state standards; observe small objects up close; remain stationary for long periods of time; tolerate extreme temperatures.
