Overall Description: Prep Cooks will have a variety of duties and responsibilities to perform every shift in the kitchen. You'll be assisting the chefs in preparing the food, maintaining a clean and safe cooking environment, and taking on culinary tasks as they arise. This position requires physical endurance as well as a flexible work schedule.
Please note: This position will primarily be assigned to the Cold Side; however, operational needs may occasionally require the employee to work on the Hot Side as well.
Job Responsibilities:
- Follow the prep sheets created by Prep Sheet Creator to plan duties
- Label and stock ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible; ensure all food and other items are stored and dated properly
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, vegetable platters, etc.
- Accept or reject ingredients from food suppliers based on their appearance and quality; inform superiors when ingredient stock is getting low or when kitchen tools do not work properly
- Clean and sanitize working surfaces, tools, utensils, and working area
- Wash prep tables and kitchen floor before closing/leaving for the evening; take trash/recycling/compost to designated receptacle outside
- Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
