1st Shift CNA Full-Time 6A-2P

As a 1st Shift CNA at St. Luke's Hospital Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, you will provide hands-on support to patients during a critical phase of their journey, helping them rebuild strength and confidence as they transition toward greater independence. Working the 6A-2P schedule, you become part of each patient's morning routine, a presence they come to trust.

About the Role

This full-time position places you at the center of daily patient care within a skilled nursing environment. The 1st Shift CNA works alongside nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff to deliver attentive, person-centered support. Mornings in transitional care are busy and meaningful, and your attention to each patient's comfort sets the tone for the day ahead.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and oral care.
• Support safe mobility through transfers, repositioning, and ambulation while following care plans.
• Measure and record vital signs, intake and output, weights, and other observations accurately.
• Help patients with meals and feeding, monitoring for changes in appetite or swallowing.
• Promptly report changes in a patient's condition, behavior, or comfort to the nursing team.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in patient rooms and common areas.
• Respond to call lights and patient requests with patience and genuine warmth.
• Follow infection control, safety, and privacy standards in every task.

What You Bring

The ideal 1st Shift CNA combines clinical competence with a compassionate heart. You listen closely, move with purpose, and treat each patient as an individual with a story worth honoring.

• Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the State of Iowa, or eligibility to obtain it.
• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Reliability and a commitment to being present for the full 6A-2P schedule.
• Prior experience in long-term care, rehabilitation, or a transitional setting is helpful but not required.
