Hays Consolidated Independent School District Job Title: NSHE Athletic Event Worker Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Reports to: Stadium Manager/Athletics Pay Grade: NSHE Dept./School: Assigned campus Date Revised: November 2025 Primary Purpose: Work Hays CISD athletic events by collecting tickets, operating scoreboard, keeping game scores, assist with chains, announce key plays, scores, and important game updates during the event. Qualifications: Education/Certification: None Special Knowledge/Skills: Stadium or related experience preferred Ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and abilities Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions Ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision Ability to effectively communicate with School District community Ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions Maintain a generally positive attitude Experience: Familiar with UIL regulations regarding Public Address Systems preferred Experience in sport assigned preferred Understand the operation of the scoreboard and/or scorebook for the sport assigned preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Collect valid admission tickets Assists with high school football games by managing the down markers and chains on the sidelines. Help officials track the down, distance, and line of scrimmage, ensuring accurate and visible measurements for teams, referees, and spectators. Operate clock and score books Announce key plays, scores, and important game updates during the event. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Handheld traffic signs, traffic cones, reflective safety attire Posture: Frequent standing/sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
