Job Description

The future of aerospace and defense starts here.

Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.

Facilities & Capital Projects Internship

The Journey Starts Here As Ursa Major continues to grow, we are investing heavily in manufacturing, test, research, and corporate facilities across multiple Colorado campuses. From manufacturing equipment installations and laboratory upgrades to new buildings, utilities, test infrastructure, and campus expansion projects, our Facilities & Capital Projects team delivers the infrastructure that enables Ursa Major's continued growth.

The Facilities & Capital Projects Intern will support the planning, design, construction, and delivery of capital improvement projects across Ursa Major facilities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world project management within a fast-paced aerospace and advanced manufacturing environment.

The intern will work alongside Facilities & Capital Projects team members, engineers, architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders on projects ranging from facility improvements and manufacturing infrastructure to large-scale campus development and new building construction.

This position is intended to provide meaningful project experience while supporting the Facilities & Capital Projects team with the execution of an expanding capital portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers with the planning, design, permitting, construction, and closeout of capital projects.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, contractor coordination meetings, and site walks.
  • Assist with tracking project schedules, budgets, action items, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other technical documents with guidance from project team members.
  • Assist with field observations and documentation of construction progress.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to help identify project requirements and facility needs.
  • Support contractor and consultant coordination, including architects, engineers, general contractors, and specialty trades.
  • Assist with project cost tracking, estimates, bid comparisons, and value-engineering efforts.
  • Support development and maintenance of facility plans, drawings, equipment information, and other project records.
  • Assist with project turnover, punch lists, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Perform other Facilities & Capital Projects assignments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Interest in construction, facilities, engineering, and/or capital project management.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information; familiarity with construction drawings is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working both in an office environment and in active construction/manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with CAD, Bluebeam, scheduling, or project management software is a plus.

Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $30.00/hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. What we can’t quantify for you are the exciting challenges, supportive team, and amazing culture we enjoy.
