2027 Summer Nurse Intern

THE SUMMER NURSE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM provides nursing students with an opportunity to apply nursing theory to clinical practice, develop time management skills and problem solving techniques. You'll gain confidence at the bedside through observing and performing technical skills during a ten week period. The 2027 Summer Nurse Internship will begin May 17 through July 23, 2027,

AVAILABLE LOCATIONS/ UNITS:

• Penn Highlands DuBois

• Obstetrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, General Operating Rooms, GI Lab, Peri-Anesthesia, Cardiovascular Unit, Inpatient Wound, NeuroTrauma ICU, Intermediate Care Unit, Gen Med Surg3, Acute Surgical Unit, BHU (Adult & Adolescent), Inpatient Rehab, Hahne Cancer Center

• Penn Highlands Brookville

• You'll rotate through Med/Surg, Emergency Department, OR & Geropsych

• Penn Highlands Clearfield

• You'll rotate through Med/Surg, Emergency Department, OR, Wound Clinic & Geropsych

• Penn Highlands Elk

• You'll rotate through Acute Care, Emergency Department & Surgical Services

• Penn Highlands Huntingdon

• Acute Care, Emergency Department, Adult Behavioral Health & Surgical Services

• Penn Highlands Tyrone

• Med/Surg, Emergency Department & Surgical Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing pursuing your ASN or BSN with successful completion of Sophomore or Junior Year by May 2027
• Must be able to attend SNI Orientation (you will be assigned to one day of orientation based upon your Facility/Unit Assignment- May 17 or 18, 2027)
• Must be able to complete internship with minimal absenteeism
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred)
• Must have flexibility to work rotating shifts (you will follow your preceptor's schedule)
• Must have a customer service attitude
• Must be a team player
