    Grinder

No assembly line here! As a Grinder, your days will fly by as you stay busy using a variety of tools and equipment to grind, clean, and finish iron castings. This is a hands-on, physically active position where you’ll work independently and as part of a team to make sure each casting meets our quality standards.

    Work Schedule

    • 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:00 PM–10:00 PM (additional shift differential). Occasional overtime as needed.

    What you will do:

    • Use stand, disc, cone, and pencil grinders, sanders, buffers, and other tools to deburr and clean iron castings.
    • Visually inspect finished castings to ensure they meet quality standards.
    • Set up, operate, and shut down machinery and equipment.
    • Use hoists and other equipment to safely move and position heavier castings.
    • Read and follow work orders and job process instructions.
    • Use a computer to record work activity.
    • Prepare finished castings for shipment, including assembling boxes, weighing skids, and labeling boxes.
    • Keep your workstation stocked with the supplies and tools needed to complete work.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Work independently and as part of a team to keep production moving safely and efficiently.

    What we are looking for:

    • Safety focused
    • Dependable with consistent attendance
    • Motivated and willing to learn
    • Comfortable using power tools and production equipment
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Detail oriented with an eye for quality
    • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
    • Able to work around heat, noise, dust, and other conditions typical of a foundry
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Willing to get dirty and stay active throughout the shift

    Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position that requires continuous standing and walking, along with frequent bending, stooping, turning, and reaching. The position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Hoists are available to assist with moving heavier castings.

Other: High School Diploma or GED required. No prior foundry experience required—we are willing to train the right candidate.

Torrance Casting is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
