Description

The Packer is responsible for efficiently packing finished products for shipment or storage. This role involves carefully inspecting, packing, and labeling boxes, pet beds, and related products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications. The Packer plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality and contributing to the smooth operation of the manufacturing and distribution processes.

This position is Monday - Friday on 2nd shift: 3pm - 11:30pm. OT as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Accurately and efficiently pack cushions, pet beds, and related products into boxes, bags, or other packaging materials according to company standards and customer specifications.

• Inspect finished products for defects, such as tears, stains, or uneven stuffing, before packing. Report any defects to the Production Supervisor and ensure that only quality products are packed.

• Correctly label packed products with the appropriate shipping labels.

• Coordinate with other team members to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

• Assist with other production tasks as needed to support overall production goals.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while handling products and operating packaging equipment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety concerns to the supervisor.

• Other duties as requested, including general housekeeping of plant/warehouse.

Required Skills:

• Strong attention to detail to ensure products are packed correctly and meet quality standards.

• Ability to count, measure, and verify product quantities for accurate packing and order fulfillment.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors.

• Good organizational skills to manage packing tasks efficiently and maintain an orderly workspace.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience in packing or a related role in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work 8 hours a day and flexible to work overtime as needed.

• The position requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, and repetitive motion.

Requires the ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. overhead.

Requires the ability to frequently push carts with loads exceeding 100 lbs. of product.

• Must be able to sit, bend, twist, stoop, stand and walk for at least 3 hours at a stretch, over an 8 or 10-hour shift, with 15-minute breaks.
