Horizon Science Academy Westerville has a full-time opening for the position of a 4th and 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must hold a valid teaching certificate within the state of Ohio or in the process of obtaining a license.
Experience teaching grades 4/5 Math and Science preferred.
Teaching experience K-12 may vary.
Outstanding personal/interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.
Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children; sensitivity to second language development/acquisition and cultural awareness.
Openness towards parent communication.
Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.
Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support the school''s mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers.
Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction which reflects observations and goals of individual children.
Establish a classroom culture of high expectations.
Work with the faculty and school leadership to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices.
Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications and conferences to discuss student progress.
Maintain an organized, attractive and safe classroom environment.
Have an understanding of PBIS strategies or willingness to learn.
Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor''s degree or Master''s Degree Preferred
Valid OH teaching certificate/license or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH teaching certificate/license in subject area to be taught
