Job Title: A-Level Auto Mechanic / Lead Master Technician
Location: Cloverdale, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Starting wage dependent on skills and experience

Bring your talent to a shop that values you as much as you value your work!

Are you an experienced automotive technician tired of the dealership grind? Looking for a better work/life balance, a supportive team, and a workplace where you’re treated like family—not just another employee?

At our independent, family-oriented and owned automotive repair shop, we believe great technicians deserve more than a paycheck. They deserve respect, stability, and the opportunity to build a career they can be proud of.

Position Overview:

We are a busy, well-established independent auto repair shop in Cloverdale, CA, known for quality workmanship, honest service, and a loyal customer base. We are looking for a highly skilled, versatile A-Level Auto Mechanic to join our independent repair team. Unlike dealership roles that focus on a single brand, our master technicians thrive on variety, working on domestic and import vehicles daily. You will serve as our shop's primary diagnostic expert and heavy-line repair specialist, solving complex issues where other shops give up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • All-Makes Diagnostics: Diagnose complex drivability, drivetrains, networks (CAN-bus), and electrical issues across a wide variety of vehicle makes and models including diesel engines.
  • General/Heavy-Line Repair: Perform major mechanical overhauls, including gas engines, diesel engines, transmissions, steering/suspension, and HVAC systems. Perform general services and repairs such as oil changes, tires, alignments, and brakes.
  • Independent Problem Solving: Utilize aftermarket scan tools (e.g., Snap-on, Oscilloscope, Autel) and information systems (AllData, Mitchell1, Identifix) to efficiently solve repair puzzles without factory-exclusive resources.
  • Shop Mentorship: Lead by example, helping B- and C-Level technicians troubleshoot difficult jobs and maintaining a collaborative, efficient shop workflow.
  • Customer Support: Translate complex technical issues into clear explanations for service advisors, occasionally interacting with loyal local customers to explain an intricate fix.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality workmanship on every vehicle to protect our shop's reputation and minimize comebacks.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience:5 to 8+ years of professional automotive repair experience, with a proven track record in a professional shop environment.
  • Certifications: Current ASE Certifications (A1–A8) are highly desirable (or willingness to obtain as a condition of employment). Master Technician status is a major plus.
  • Multi-Brand Fluency: Strong familiarity with a broad range of vehicle manufacturers (Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, etc.).
  • Tools: Ownership of a complete, professional-grade set of hand tools and diagnostic equipment suitable for a lead role.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to lift 60+ lbs and stand for long periods.

What we Offer:

  • Competitive Pay — Your experience, skills, and hard work matter.
  • Benefits Package — Retirement account with employer matching and health benefits.
  • Paid Holiday and Personal Time Off — Take time to recharge, vacation, and be there for your family.
  • Family-Oriented Environment — Work with a team that respects you, supports you, and treats you like a person.
  • Less Dealership Pressure — Enjoy a more personal shop environment focused on quality repairs, teamwork, and customer trust.
  • A Voice That Matters — Your ideas, experience, and expertise are valued.
  • Career Stability and Growth — Build a long-term future with a shop that wants you to succeed.
