The success of SCC is rooted in the mission of serving the community by "focusing on academic excellence, student success, workforce advancement, and life-long learning within a global society."The Academic & Success Coach: Program Manager plays an integral role in the EXCELerator and the college at large. This role provides subject-specific tutoring while serving as a holistic guide to help students navigate their academic journey and connect them with campus resources. This involves developing the broader skills needed for students to have long-term success in both academics and their career. This role serves as tutor, mentor, facilitator of self-discovery, accountability partner, skills developer, and champion of growth and transformation.Program Manager Academic Coach - Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership & SupportServe as the point of contact for the Academic Coaches offering guidance, mentoring, and troubleshooting support.Collaborate closely with the Director to implement strategic initiatives and align coaching efforts with departmental goals.Act as a floor manager to ensure smooth daily operations within the EXCELerator and provide leadership presence in the Director's absence.Program Coordination & DevelopmentAssist in planning, coordinating, and executing workshops, student success events, and coaching outreach activities.Lead or co-lead departmental initiatives, such as specialized coaching programs (e.g., probation coaching, time management series, midterm check-ins).Training & SupervisionTrain, onboard, and provide ongoing professional development for new Academic Coaches and Peer Tutors.Supervise Part-Time Academic Coaches and Student Workers.Monitor and support coaching quality by reviewing documentation, providing feedback, and facilitating team meetings.Help create resource materials, guides, and toolkits for use by Academic Coaches and students.Administrative & Operational SupportAssist with scheduling coverage for front desk and coaching shifts, events, and tutoring support across the center.Manage internal communications and assist in preparing materials for staff meetings and training sessions.Academic & Success Coaching Support Providing individualized academic coaching in either of the following subject areas: Chemistry, Writing, Math, and Biology.Serving as a campus mentor/navigator for SCC Students.Helping students develop effective learning strategies, study skills, time management, and organizational skills, etc.Assisting students in identifying academic strengths and areas for improvement.Supporting students in navigating academic challenges, setting goals, and overcoming obstacles.Providing proactive outreach to at-risk students and connecting them with resources.Develop and distribute supplemental learning materials to support students.Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to students, faculty, and administration as needed.Plan and execute academic engagement events, such as Study Hall Slam Sessions, Student Empowerment events.Collaborate with department chairs to create course review workshops.Program Development and Implementation:Developing and facilitating workshops, seminars, and training programs on academic success topics.Creating and implementing strategies to improve student retention and completion rates.Collaborating with faculty and other departments to enhance student support.Developing and implementing procedures for programming to include faculty and department input, attendance tracking, and assessment of student progress.Resource and Referral:Connecting students with campus resources, such as counseling, disability services, student health & wellness, student life, career services, advising, and financial aid.Mentor students to help them learn how to self-advocate with their faculty or other support services.Participating in SCCs "Teams Supporting Teams" Initiatives; This includes supporting student services area: Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, Student Activities, Student Health & Wellness.Data Collection and Reporting:Maintaining regular and accurate records of student interactions and progress in the appropriate system.Track student attendance and faculty collaboration at programming events.Collecting data and preparing reports on student success and retention initiatives.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Academic Discipline, or a related field.Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in higher education, preferably in academic support, tutoring, student success, advising, retention, or learning assistance.Experience developing, coordinating, and assessing student-success programs and initiatives.Experience supervising, training, and supporting staff, including part-time employees, tutors, academic coaches, or student workers.Knowledge of student retention, persistence, academic intervention, and engagement strategies, particularly within a community college environment.Ability to use student data and assessment results to evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, Academic Advising, Career Services, Financial Aid, Disability Support Services, and other student-support departments.Experience planning and facilitating workshops, academic-support events, outreach initiatives, and student-success programming.Ability to manage daily operations of a collaborative student-success or learning environment, including staffing, scheduling, service delivery, and student concerns.Proficiency with educational technology and common higher-education systems, such as learning management systems, Microsoft 365, scheduling platforms, and student information systems.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or special events, based on departmental needs. St. Charles Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
