Position Description
The Academic Coach and Assistant Coordinator for Tutoring, reporting to the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs in the Academic Resource Center (ARC), oversees Eastern's peer tutoring program, provides academic coaching to students Flex Undergraduate students enrolled in the Parent Pathways program, and assists with other academic support services with an emphasis on students in the Act 101, EQUIP. This position is hybrid and will require some evening hours.
Position Responsibilities
Assistant Coordinator for Tutoring Position Responsibilities:
Ongoing recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of peer tutors for the undergraduate peer tutoring program during the academic year
Implementation and ongoing monitoring of WCOnline for peer tutoring appointments between tutors and traditional undergraduate students
Arranges tutoring for summer FastPass and other online summer courses. Is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer tutors, and for pairing of tutors with students
Serves as a member of the EQUIP and Act101 staff teams, helping with training, program development, and student support
Provides professional recommendations regarding appropriate reading and study skill accommodations and modifications of course materials and resources for students who learn differently
Presents Warner Library and ACT 101 Workshops on various reading and study skill topics
Oversees and monitors the use of NetTutor for undergraduate, graduate, and flex students
Completes monthly invoice procurements for NetTutor
Academic Coach Position Responsibilities:
Provides online academic coaching to students who enroll for services with study skills, time/self-management, test-taking, reading strategies, etc.
As requested, develops and presents online workshops focused on study skills, time management, "negotiating the system" (e.g., registration, financial aid), etc.
Maintains case documentation and prepares weekly records of contacts and other summary reports as requested.
Assists students with navigating University systems such as financial aid and registration.
Assists academically under-prepared or underperforming students in creating and following programs for improvement.
Maintains competencies with web-based training and attendance at seminars.
Other duties as assigned by the e Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs.
Other Responsibilities:
Attends ARC staff meetings as requested
Attends professional development activities relating to peer tutoring, testing, and the Act 101 program upon request
Remains knowledgeable about best practices in the field and implements changes to facilities and procedures when necessary to meet best practice standards
Prepares weekly, monthly, and annual reports as requested
Embodies values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmation
Seeks to treat each member of the campus community with fairness, dignity, and respect, seeking a spirit of unity and harmony as we join together to achieve our common mission
Status: Full-time, staff, salaried, exempt, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Part-time Regular staff who are scheduled 30-36 hours per week over the course of a year, receive a full benefit package based on their part-time scheduled hours. Healthcare coverage is based on the ACA medical coverage guidelines. Affiliate faculty receive a benefit package as outlined with their covenant. Adjunct faculty may be eligible for medical coverage under the ACA after an annual one year lookback review.
Part-time staff who are scheduled to work less than 30 hours per week schedule are eligible for employer contribution towards the retirement plan after one year of employment. Eligibility rules apply. Adjunct faculty may make employee deferral contributions towards the retirement plan.
Part-Time Graduate Assistant Coaches are eligible for participation in the Tuition Remission Coaches Program.
Temporary, Contractors and Seasonal Employees: Individuals in this status are scheduled on an as-needed-basis and are not eligible for participation in the University's benefits programs.
