Account Manager

Responsibilities

• Supervise property accounting and accounts receivable and payable teams, providing guidance, reviewing work, and monitoring deadlines.
• Validate property-level reconciliations and accounting records, resolving discrepancies and tracking nonrecurring transactions.
• Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support accurate and timely reporting.
• Coordinate with property management, leasing, and development teams to ensure transactions are properly recorded and information requests are completed.
• Oversee tenant billing and collections, including rent, common area maintenance, real estate taxes, insurance, and related reconciliations.
• Monitor accounts receivable balances and deliver consolidated aging and collection reports to accounting leadership.
• Administer vendor setup and approval workflows in accordance with established controls.
• Assess monthly financial reporting packages for ownership partners, lenders, and senior management, including construction requisitions.
• Track compliance with debt agreements, joint venture agreements, and state filing requirements.
• Examine lease entries, tenant escrow updates, and expense reconciliations, supporting coordination across tenant-related activities.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience; 10–15 years preferred.
• Real estate accounting experience required, with a private industry background or a combination of public accounting and private industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of property accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, tenant billing, collections, and common area maintenance and real estate tax reconciliations.
• Familiarity with lease administration, lender and joint venture reporting, and portfolio compliance requirements.
• Proven management experience with the ability to supervise, coach, and develop accounting teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with senior management.
• Detail-oriented and highly analytical, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• MRI software experience preferred.
