Account Analyst

OVERVIEW
The Accountant Analyst supports the Division s financial integrity, operating performance, and decision-making through accurate accounting, timely reporting, disciplined planning and forecasting, and responsive business support. This role performs a combination of general accounting, financial analysis, payroll support, and data-management activities in accordance with policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant Analyst is responsible for supporting monthly financial close activities, preparing and analyzing financial reports, maintaining accurate financial data, and assisting with planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes. The position partners with Finance, Operations, Human Resources, and other functional teams to investigate variances, improve reporting quality, support payroll processes, and provide actionable financial insight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FINANCIAL REPORTING AND CLOSE SUPPORT
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve aged, unusual, or unreconciled items.
Assist with preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, and Division reporting packages.
Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, prior year, and operational drivers; identify significant variances and prepare clear explanations.
Maintain supporting documentation for financial transactions and ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and record-retention requirements.
Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting evidence.
Support cost accounting, fixed-asset accounting, engineering related accounting, payroll-related accounting, and revenue recognition.
Partner with cross functional teams and leaders to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in the appropriate accounting period.
PLANNING, FORECASTING, AND ANALYSIS
Support annual operating-plan, budget, forecast, and strategic-planning processes.
Prepare financial models, schedules, and analyses to support revenue, margin, operating expense, working capital, engineering spend, labor costs, and capital expenditure forecasts.
Monitor financial and operational performance against plan and forecast; identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Analyze cost structure, spending patterns, labor, material, overhead, and other key business drivers.
Assist in development and maintenance of dashboards, key performance indicators, and recurring management reports.
Provide timely financial analysis to support business decisions, continuous-improvement initiatives, and operational performance reviews.
Partner with functional leaders to validate assumptions, evaluate financial impacts, and improve forecast accuracy.
DATA MANAGEMENT AND BUSINESS SUPPORT
Maintain the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial master data and reporting inputs.
Extract, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from ERP, reporting, payroll, and other business systems.
Support the development and maintenance of standardized reports, data files, and analytical tools.
Identify data-quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate business and functional partners.
Respond to routine financial-data requests and provide timely, accurate support to internal stakeholders.
Assist with process documentation, workflow improvements, reporting automation, and finance-system enhancement activities.
Support adherence to Division, Aerospace Group, and Corporate reporting requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
3-5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, FP&A, cost accounting, or a comparable finance role.
Clear understanding of balance sheet versus profit and loss (P&L) general ledger accounts, including the effects of transactions on financial statements.
Working knowledge of general accounting principles, financial close processes, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Experience analyzing financial results, investigating variances, and preparing management-level reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data analysis, and report preparation.
Experience working with ERP systems and financial-reporting tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet recurring deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CPA, CMA, MBA, or progress toward a relevant professional certification.
Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site business environment.
Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, fixed assets, or cost analysis.
Experience with planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, Power Query, or other data visualization and analytics tools.
Familiarity with payroll processes, labor reporting, and payroll-related accounting.
Experience supporting audit activities and internal-control requirements.
