We are an established boutique CPA firm in Chesapeake, Virginia, with long-standing client relationships across Hampton Roads. Our team has 10 people, and 8 of them are CPAs. Our clients range from single-owner S-corps to multi-state government contractors with revenue in the millions. We’re a close-knit, senior-heavy team. Many of us are parents and serve on local boards, so we take getting home to our families seriously.

We’re looking for an Accountant with public accounting experience to support both our assurance and tax practices. You’ll work alongside our principals on larger projects and handle a variety of engagements across a diverse client base. This is a hands-on role for someone who is ready to grow with a firm that will invest in them.

What you’ll do:

Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures on assurance engagements
Prepare individual, business, and multi-state tax returns
Prepare and record adjusting journal entries and reconcile client books
Support firm principals on larger and more complex engagements
Work directly with clients ranging from small businesses to government contractors
Use Thomson Reuters tools, including UltraTax CS and Engagement Manager

What we’re looking for:

Public accounting experience, including at least one or two tax seasons
CPA or CPA candidate actively pursuing licensure
Strong command of debits, credits, and journal entries (required)
Working knowledge of audit procedures and A&A workpapers
Experience with UltraTax, Engagement Manager, or other Thomson Reuters products (strongly preferred)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
Ability to work independently without extensive training
Ability to commute to Chesapeake, VA. Candidates in Northeastern North Carolina (Currituck, Elizabeth City, Moyock) are encouraged to apply. Relocation candidates, including military spouses, are welcome.
